Artist Bonnie Dolin joined 2nd Grade classes at FES on March 30th to present a workshop on printmaking. Students learned about Native American symbolism in art and its significance. Each student used Styrofoam boards and printmaking supplies to create their own unique series of prints. Mrs. Dolin is a professional artist who works in oil paints and pastels. She came to FES through Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio and her visit was funded by the Firelands Endowment Fund as well as the Nord Foundation.

Fourth and Fifth Grade students at FES were able to participate in a month-long Art Club in March. Fourth Grade Art Club members used their own handmade paper to create small books. They also made matching beaded bookmarks to go along with their books. Fifth Grade Art Club members learned about new art techniques and were able to experiment with them in creating Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). Their ATCs involved watercolors, collage and metal tooling techniques. Students then spent part of the last meeting displaying and trading their distinctive cards.
