Open Enrollment is Now Online – Forms Open on Feb. 3 @ 7:30 a.m.
Starting Monday, February 3rd, we will be accepting
new K-12 open enrollment applications for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents
from any school district in Ohio are welcome to apply, but space is limited and
will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Enrollment is tuition
free, but parents must pay for all school fees if applicable. If a grade level closes, we will still encourage parents
to complete the open enrollment application and we will maintain waiting lists
until July 1st. On July 1st, open enrollment will end for the 2020-2021 school
year. (Kindergartners must do the open enrollment application 1st,
followed by kindergarten registration in March.)
This year we are using an online Google form for the new and
returning applications. It will be active on February 3rd at 7:30 am. All forms are
submitted electronically and time-stamped. While this form is best filled out from a
laptop or PC, you can fill it out from a smart phone in less than 10 minutes
assuming you have no forms to upload. This online application does provide
space for you to securely upload documents in PDF
format, such as IEP, WEP or 504 plans. Parents of new high school
students also need to submit their last report card. The application will be posted at http://www.firelandsschools.org under the “student registration” section. There will be a news article on the front page of the website as well, linking you to the application location.
Official notification of your status will come from the Superintendent’s Office by email starting in late February and throughout the
process. Please contact Sue Schaefer in the Superintendent’s Office at 440-965-5821 if you have questions or are having any problems with the electronic form. There will not be any paper forms unless accessibility is an issue. We will provide a Google Chromebook at the board office if you wish to come in person and apply here.
**Please note – open enrollment for new students is the first step, followed by a separate registration process. Registration instructions will follow after open enrollment applications have been approved.**
RETURNING Open Enrollment
Parents: If your child was open-enrolled last year, you must request that they continue by filling out the quick online form. It will be found in the same location, on the “student registration” page of the Firelands website. You will receive confirmation of their continued open-enrollment by email from the Superintendent’s Office.
