Class of 2020 Update

Good afternoon Seniors:

We are a short 7 weeks from Graduation Day. Of course, you are probably wondering what that means, so here is some information for you if school was to be closed past the May 1st deadline that we already have. I have met with your officers, and many other stakeholders, who have provided input on the following dates. Listed below are tentative dates, based on projections of when, and if, we can hold large group events in the summer.

Graduation – Graduation is still scheduled for Friday, May 22nd at 7 pm. The Senior Breakfast is scheduled for 8 am and graduation practice for 10 am, all on May 22nd. If the school closure extends past this date, here is a tentative graduation date, based on projections, and what other school districts are doing. We are moving this event to a date and time where we feel it can be held.

Tentative New Graduation Date – Friday, July 31st at 8 pm in Falcon Stadium

Prom – Tentative new scheduled date if school closure is continued will be Tuesday, July 28th from 7-11 pm at New Russia Township Hall (we have already secured the date).

Senior Award Night – Postponed from April 29th to a combination of a posted video honoring our award winners, to an abbreviated recognition of them at the Senior Breakfast.

May events and beyond – As of today, if school were to resume, we will be holding all our events as scheduled. However, if the school closure is extended, all May events, with the exception of the events listed above, will be cancelled, except Honors Award night. We will post the award winners to our website and social media if we cannot hold this event. The Fine Arts Festival and Art Camp, scheduled for May and June, have been cancelled, along with the Middle School OMEA contest at FHS, to be held on Friday, May 15th, has also been cancelled.

Jostens Deliveries - We will be working out a plan to distribute items delivered by Jostens to FHS. If you want more information, or would like to order more information, you can always contact www.jostens.com for more information, or contact Rodd Torbert, who is our Jostens rep for FHS, at [email protected] with any questions.

As Seniors, you have a couple of jobs to do right now. #1 - Make sure everyone in your life is safe and healthy, and you are helping as much as possible to make that happen #2 - When we return to school, make sure that you finish all your classes strong so that you can be a member of the Graduating Class of 2020, a proud Falcon Alum.

Take care, Happy Easter and Spring Break. Stay healthy and safe.

Mr. Maver
