Description:
PSAT testing and/or Day of Caring (community service seal for juniors and seniors.

PSAT Testing: We will do our annual PSAT testing for all 9th and 10th grade students as well as some 11th grade students on October 12th. The PSAT test is designed to help students prepare for the SAT, college, and careers. Studies show that students that take the PSAT do better on the SAT. Data from the PSAT can be used to help students prepare for the SAT test (taken in the spring of junior year) by giving students and families specific information about individual student strengths and weaknesses. All students that are testing are required to be at school at 7:30 on this date. For students that are not testing (most juniors and all seniors), there is no school. Seniors and juniors that are not testing have two options. They can participate in the Day of Caring that is being organized by Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Wolanin or they can do a college visit or a career shadow. Please contact Mrs. Wolanin (after October 3rd, Mrs. Horton) for information on the Day of Caring, college visit, or career shadowing. PSAT testing will begin at 7:30 am and end at approximately 11:00 am for standard time testing rooms. Students that need to take a bus home will still be provided with transportation at 2:30. They will have a study hall for the remainder of the day. All students will have the option to purchase a lunch after testing has completed. Breakfast will be served as well.
Day of Caring. This is an opportunity for juniors and seniors to earn community service hours that count towards earning the Community Service Diploma Seal. Students may also be able to use these hours towards required community service for other organizations that they belong to. Please see the individual advisor for more information.
