Apprenticeship Opportunity
We accept applications for our Apprenticeship Program every FIRST & THIRD "working" Wednesday of the month from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the IBEW Union Hall located at 6100 S. Broadway, Suite 201, Lorain, OH  44053.  You must apply in person on the days and times stated above.  Applications cannot be taken home.

At the time of application the applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements:
  1. AGE - At least 17 years old at the time of application
  2. RESIDENT - Must live in Lorain, Erie, or Huron County
  3. EDUCATION - High School Graduate (GED acceptable)
  4. ALGEBRA - One year of High School Algebra or one post High School Algebra course completed with a passing grade.  Your transcript must read "Algebra".  No other math class may be submitted for consideration (GED Algebra is not acceptable)

Each applicant MUST FURNISH COPIES of the following at the time of application:

  1. BIRTH CERTIFICATE
  2. HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPTS (NOT DIPLOMA)
  3. GED CERTIFICATE AND COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS (IF APPLICABLE)

All documents submitted at the time of application become the property of the Lorain JATC and will not be returned to the applicant.  We do not make copies.

Applicants are required to pay a $25 non-refundable Application Fee that is used to purchase their aptitude test.  We will accept Check or Money Order ONLY, please make them payable to Lorain JATC.

Each applicant that meets ALL of the basic requirements and provides the Committee with all the requested documents will be contacted to take an aptitude test.  Testing takes place in the spring, every year.  You must take the test when it is scheduled.  All applicants passing the Reading and Math sections of the aptitude test with a score of 5 or higher will be given an interview.  Interviews take place about 1 month after testing.  All applicants will receive a "ranking" score after their interview.  Apprentices will be selected in the order of their ranking.  Anyone not selected will be kept on file and reconsidered for the following year.  All applicants will be reviewed without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, or sex.
