FMS Guidance

SAMS Guidance Department

Welcome to FMS Counseling Corner

FMS counseling department is comprised of Kristian Novak and Beth Monyak, both licensed in the state of Ohio as school counselors. Our site will give you an overview of the services we offer to students, staff and parents on a daily basis. Each student faces unique challenges that have an impact on their academic achievement. We are here to support our students as they transition through the middle school years.

One of the ways we meet student needs is through short term counseling. If your child is experiencing difficulties navigating their day, please let one of us know. We would be happy to help.

Mental Health Services

If a child needs more in depth counseling than what we can offer, we have partnered with an outside agency to have a mental health therapist on board at FMS. This program is supported by the Lorain County Board of Mental Health to offer individual and group therapy to students. Your child has the ability to see a mental health therapist during the school day, as many families have outside commitments that could interfere with treatment. Please talk to Mrs. Novak or Mrs. Sullivan for information on this successful partnership!

Power School Parent Accounts

Each student has a power school account that connects directly to the teacher’s gradebook. Did you know that as a parent you also can have an account? You can even link all of your children’s accounts…even if they are in different buildings. Please contact the office if you would like a parent account to monitor your child’s grades. You can also email one of us at [email protected] or [email protected] to request this service.

Student Academics

In addition to our CORE academic classes, we offer numerous electives for your child to explore different types of subjects. Please review the class offering documents with your child.
