Meal Assistance: COVID-19

Grab and Go Meal Bags

Grab and Go Food Bags:

Grab and Go breakfast and lunch items will be available for students whose parents have filled a request survey. Prebagged breakfast and lunch items will be available for pick up at Firelands Elementary School between 11:00 am – 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm on Tuesdays . Bags will contain food for multiple days.

 

Pick up of the Grab and Go items will be organized the same as child pick up at the elementary school. Cars enter the Firelands High School parking lot and will pass by the main doors. They will then proceed toward the bus garage.

 

New pick up procedure for Grab & Go meals:

=         Stay on the outside of the orange cones, further away from the building

=         Stop at the kitchen door and let them know the names of your child/children

=         Pull forward beyond the double doors

=         Your meals will be placed on the ground to avoid contaminating a surface

=         Once the food has been placed and the food runner is away from the area, you may exit your vehicle and load your bags

=         We appreciate your understanding as we must protect us all

Please know that the Grab and Go Bag survey must be completed Friday by 9:00 am prior to pick up,  Pick up next week will be on Tuesday, March 24th from 11:00-1:00 at Firelands Elementary School. If you have completed the survey you will automatically be registered to receive Grab and Go Bags for the immediate future.

Please understand that we are unable to provide any substitutions within these Grab and Go Bags. We are not able to monitor allergies or intolerances. In addition, bags will not be available during Spring Break.

Volunteer Opportunities

Parent Involvement

 
We have many great groups that work hard to support our district. These organizations and clubs would be happy to welcome new volunteers. Direct requests for help are also included for your consideration.  
 
The Firelands Elementary Parent Teacher Group (FES PTG) meets on the first Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the library at FES. The group can be reached at [email protected]

The South Amherst Middle School Parent Teacher Group (SAMS PTG) is a parent teacher group working together for the benefit of all students at SAMS.  We support the school by raising money and helping out at the school.  Meetings are held throughout the year.  The group can be found on Facebook at SAMS PTG or by emailing [email protected].    

The Firelands Athletic Booster Club (FABC) meets on the 4th Monday of the month in the library at FHS. All are welcome.

The Firelands Band Boosters (BBThe Band Booster program is not just a High School Organization. It is a Support Organization Serving all 3 Buildings in the Firelands Local School District. We are looking for parents/guardians who are interested in helping support our student musicians. This organization meets on the third Tuesday of every month-except for December and July in the Band Room at FHS.

The Firelands Choir Boosters (FCB) meets on the third Tuesday of every month in the Firelands High School library.  

The Brownhelm Historical Association (BHA) holds meetings the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Carriage Barn at Mill Hollow.

Mrs. Schuster has a very important message for parents that are concerned about the well-being of their children during this stressful time. She has some great advice that can help support parents while we are all figuring out this temporary situation.  Please take a minute and watch this video.
