Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Open Doors Academy (ODA) to enhance our morning and after school program at Firelands Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year. ODA is a Cleveland-based non-profit organization with more than 30 years of experience operating out-of-school time programs. ODA currently operates our afterschool program at the middle school.
The program is open to all students in grades kindergarten through 5, and it offers students opportunities for academic support as well as enrichment activities. It will operate five days a week, Monday-Friday, before school and after school.
Registration will open on Thursday, August 18th. You will register through Open Doors Academy’s website: www.opendoorsacademy.org. Click on “enroll” to create an account. Select “Firelands Elementary School” from the drop-down menu. You will have the option to register for the AM program, the PM program, or both the AM and PM program.

Mornings: 6:30 a.m. – 8:25 a.m.
Afternoons: 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

SUBJECT: ACE Ohio clarifications and Payment Options for Open Doors Academy at Firelands
We regret to inform you that ACE funding is no longer an option. If you were approved by ACE, our recommendation is that you use the money for something other than ODA since ACE will not reapprove ODA as a provider.
Therefore, all families need to pay for the program. The program cost and payment options are below.

Online, Automatic Payments | Automatic, Monthly Payments through Open Doors Academy website. Payments are withdrawn each month on the date you set up your first payment, starting in October and ending in May for a total of 8 payments in the amount of either $93.75 or $125, based on enrollment. |
Steps for setting up automatic monthly payments:
- Click this link ODA’s Online Payment Portal and subscribe to either Before School, After School or Both.
- Complete the form with your contact information, child name(s) and payment method.
- Click subscribe when complete.
- Submit your first payment by October 1st.
Once your first payment is set up and submitted, 7 additional payments will automatically be made, one each month, on the same date of your first payment. (i.e.: if you make your first payment on Oct 1st, your next payments will be Nov 1st, Dec 1st, Jan 1st ...ending May 1st.) You can change your payment subscription or method at any time.
ODA before and after school care program will be held in the library. Drop off begins at 6:30 AM and students can enter by ringing the doorbell on the right-hand side.
In the afternoon the program ends by 5:30 PM. Only family members on the contact list may pick up your child (ren). Adult picking up should ring the doorbell to let the ODA staff know of your arrival. The adult will need to sign out in order to pick up your student.
Please ensure on time pick up as our staff count on being able to leave at 5:30 so they can be with their families.
