What is Title 1?
Title 1 was created to ensure all students have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic standards as well as prepare them for life. Title 1 services focus on improving the academic achievement of students who need assistance above and beyond that provided by the regular classroom resources.

Ms. Bednarski:  I am beyond excited to start my first, and hopefully, many years with Firelands Elementary School. After graduating from Keystone, I became a Falcon at Bowling Green State University where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, my reading endorsement, and began my Master’s of Education in Reading. I’ve also completed my 4-5 endorsement! I was extremely lucky and began teaching right away. My first few years of teaching were filled with part-time or long-term substitute positions. I am ready to begin my fourth year of teaching as a Falcon! Once a Falcon, Always a Falcon!

Ms. Moore: Hello, families! My name is Whitney Moore and I am going to be working at the elementary school for Title 1. This will be my first year at Firelands but my third year teaching. Previously, I have taught third grade in Cleveland. I live in Litchfield with my husband and daughter. She just turned one! We live on a farm and have chickens and cows. I am so excited to be a part of Firelands School District and cannot wait for this school year to start!

Ms. Miller:
Ms. MillerI am a recent graduate of The University of Akron, graduating with my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I attended graduate school to get my K-12 reading endorsement from The University of Akron. During this summer break I furthered my education at The University of Akron to extend my license to teach up to the 5th grade. I gained insightful experience in Wadsworth City Schools as a kindergarten long-term substitute teacher. My past education and experiences have made me passionate and dedicated in teaching reading to my students. I am very pleased to instill a love for reading in all students at Firelands Elementary School
